Today is the 101st anniversary of the Tungusta Siberia blast. Thought to be caused by the airburst of a comet. The impact was 1,000 times more powerful than the atomic bomb (5 megatons) used over the city of Hiroshima, Japan.

Sometimes referred to as The Tunguska Event, it destroyed an estimated 80 million trees, and leaving behind enough high-altitude water ice to reflect sunlight over the horizon, in Europe and Great Britain.
